Battery Get it Done!

A battery is a critical part of one's auto, so properly maintenance is a must.

Regularly cleaning batteries and replacing expired ones are essential for proper auto maintenance.   Your battery supplies the electrical current necessary to start the engine. It also provides necessary power to the electrical components and accessories even when the vehicle's engine isn't running. When the electrical load exceeds the charging system's capacity, the battery supplies the extra current required. The battery also acts as voltage stabilizer for the whole electrical system.

While batteries may seem benign, they can be quite dangerous. Wear gloves whenever working with them and follow all safety precautions listed in your car's user's manual. Your battery and charging system or alternator should be inspected at least once a year by a qualified technician.

In most late model vehicles it may be difficult to change the battery yourself.   If you can't then be sure to take your vehicle to a technician that you trust.   However, if you can change it yourself and you are not able to reach your favourite shop then these are the steps you should take.

First one should identify the positive and negative terminals on one's battery. These are either labeled with a '+' or '-,' or will be colored black for negative and red for positive. Always remove the negative cable from your worn battery first, then the positive cable. Remove your worn battery.

Place the battery in its proper compartment. Always attach the first cable to the positive terminal, then the negative one.

And remember to take your expired battery to a proper facility for recycling or disposal.

William Durant

Was a businessman, finance man, and salesman who was a

self-made millionaire before ever joining the auto business. He was called on by the owners of the failing Buick Motor Company to help.

He soon bought Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Cadillac and formed General Motors. He almost bought Ford, but didn't come up with enough cash to suit Henry.

Durant always kept himself stretched thin with his money in stocks and other businesses. He lost everything in the Depression.
